The New York Knicks acquired Dick Barnett from the Los Angeles Lakers for Bob Boozer. The trade ended up being one of the most important acquisitions in team history.

Barnett cemented himself as the team’s starting shooting guard through the end of the 1960s. He helped the Knicks win both of their championships in 1970 and 1973. Barnett was known for kicking both of his legs back when shooting jumpers. Due to his contributions to the franchise, Barnett’s #12 was retired in 1990.
