The latest updates on the Knicks’ assistant coach search.


The Knicks will not be bringing back any of the previous assistants under Hornacek, with the possible exception of Howard Eisley.

The Knicks are in advanced talks with Clippers assistant Pat Sullivan for a role on Fizdale’s staff. Sullivan has connections with Scott Perry from the time they spent together in Detroit.

Jud Buechler has emerged as a serious candidate. The Laker assistant won three titles with Phil Jackson in Chicago. Learn more about Buechler.

Royal Ivey from Oklahoma City is also being considered.

Keith Smart will be Fizdale’s top assistant. Learn more about Smart.

Pat Delany has been named as another potential candidate. He came up through the Miami Heat system as a video coordinator and advanced scout when Fizdale was there. He has been an assistant coach with the Hornets since 2014.

It was reported that Nick Van Exel is expected to join the Knicks coaching staff. But Van Exel has shot down that report. For the second time, he responded to a Daily News report:

He then doubled down against the rumor in responding to a Knicks fan.

Meanwhile, Mike Woodson, who coached with Fizdale in Atlanta and shares the same agent, is now off the market.

It is being reported that Howard Eisley will likely stay on the staff.
