The story of the Knicks 2017-18 season is over. We know they finished with a 29-53 record and we know they missed the playoffs in the Eastern Conference by 14 games. But those numbers alone, without context, don’t mean as much as you’d think. Their record is a definite indication of how poor the Knicks were this past season but it’s not enough to tell the story.
I compared the Knicks to playoff teams in a number of key metrics. To understand how far away they are from being a playoff team it’s worthwhile to compare them against the ones that made it.
