Knicks defeat the Pistons 94-87 in a decisive Game 5 of the 1992 First Round playoff series.
Patrick Ewing led the way with 31 points and 19 rebounds, outdueling Isiah Thomas who scored 31 and grabbed 10 rebounds of his own. The Knicks advanced to meet the Chicago Bulls in the second round.
“There was a lot of doubt in people’s minds about whether we could do it or not,” Ewing said after the game. “But we showed that we have what it takes, that we weren’t going to give up. I haven’t felt this good in a long time.”
